IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Aoi Asahina
Age: An actual number isn't known but she's high school age. 16 is the age I'm going to go with.
Canon Point: Chapter Three, (Ab)normal Days
Species: Human
Gender: Female both mentally and physically
Orientation: Unknown
History: Most dangan ronpa characters don't have a whole lot of background information, so I'm gonna go over what little we do know and what's happened to her so far in canon.
What we do know is that she's been swimming for a long time and that she often got teased in school for being over energetic. She's broken swimming records all across the country and was recently added into japan's olympic swimming team. Other than that she's had a fairly normal life until she was dragged into the hope academy, which became the despair academy after monobear took over. Now along with a class of fifteen she's stuck in the school, unless she decides to participate in the graduation ritual. Graduating requires that Asahina kill one of her classmates and get away with it; she would have to survive a trial of her peers in order to graduate and everyone else would die as a result of her graduation. Asahina of course, has not tried to murder anyone but several people have already died from the canon point that I've taken her from.

Personality: Aoi Asahina isn't a very complicated person. Her normal everyday demeanor is that of a confident, energetic, and slightly ditzy young lady. When the group is trapped in a high school, left to determine their own fate, Asahina persists and continues looking for a way out even after the rest of the group has given up. A bit of a exercise nut, she believes in staying on top of things and enduring. Asahina even wears shorts during the winter, saying that she has to beat out the cold. According to her, only weak people get sick during the winter. Asahina's only unhealthy habit is her love of donuts, and whenever she gets sad you'll find about five in hand. She could likely eat donuts until the dawn of time.
As for the ditzy side... well... Aoi has the tendency to fall into the "brawn over brains" category. When she is first introduced to the main character, she admits that she isn't good at memorizing things. To prove this point, she tries to write the main character's name on the back of her hand but she can't remember the kanji for it. In reality, the main character's name is really easy to spell and most native speakers would get it on their first try. In the end, Asahina has to end up promising to using a dictionary to learn how to spell the name.
Knowing her, she went ahead and did so right away. Aoi is pretty blunt and forward with her thoughts, feelings, and emotions. She openly shows camaraderie towards most of the other characters and forms a close friendship with another girl who enjoys exercise, Sakura Oogami. However, when it comes to characters she dislikes, such as Hifumi Yamada, she openly shows hostility towards them, often telling them to shut up or go away. In regards to the current "kill or be killed" situation, Asahina firmly believes that no one should die, and the deaths of the others really gets to her. She ends up falling into a support role as she actively tries to keep the morale up (even while getting a bit depressed herself) and supports any ideas that involve keeping the group together and alive. But really, at her canon point, she's the most sensitive of the group, breaking into tears whenever she sees a corpse of her friend. In that way, she's the most like a normal kid out of the group.
Abilities: As a super high school level swimmer Asahina is... really really good at swimming. She's broken records all across japan and was recently asked to join the olympic team.
Other: Super High School Level: Everyone in dangan ronpa has the title "super high school level", such as super high school level hacker, or in asahina's case, swimmer. It just means that they're so good at something that they're basically considered the best at a high school level.
Monobear: Monokuma in japanese; he's a weird bear who seems to be intent on spreading despair through the fifteen students. He's locked them up in a school and installed cameras with guns attached to keep watch on them. He's also set up some rules to keep everyone killing each other... basically he's a sadistic cartoon bear and the game's main antagonist.
SAMPLES
First Person: clicky
Third Person: Asahina has been busy with her normal routine as usual. Once she had attended all of her classes with enthusiasm, she went to the swimming pool, changed into her swimming suit, and began to diligently do laps across the pool with perfect form. She might not be the best at schoolwork but the swimming pool is Aoi's forte. Swimming always makes her feel better; it allows her to sort her thoughts regardless of how scatterbrained she may be.
Once she figured out that Monobear wasn't behind this strange new place she began to relax and adapt to some degree. She still thought about Sakura and the others... but mostly Sakura, her friend that she had made at the Academy. She sincerely hoped that the others were safe, wherever they might be. Her thoughts, normally happy and carefree, started to weigh down on her. She came to a stop, hovering at the side of the pool with one arm up on the edge to keep her afloat. Even though a stranger entering the pool wouldn't know what's wrong, I'd be pretty obvious by her body language that something's up. Anyone that is closer with her will know something's wrong just by the fact that she's not swimming around enthusiastically about like the idiot swimmer she is.
